Hello, everyone! This is Stacey F., your grateful, compulsive Footnotes co-secretary. I am excited to be of service. I feel lucky to have program during this bizarre life that is sheltering-in-place. Because of program, there are people I get to call on a daily basis and people that call me. I get to reach out via phone and video meetings, which I attend much more frequently than I ever did in-person meetings. These things help me feel connected while I am so isolated.I'd like to share a daily essentials checklist I created to help me feel grounded and purposeful on endless days that seem to bleed into the next.
1. Prayer/meditation
2. Journal
3. Rx
4. Breakfast
5. Sponsor
6. Sponsee
7. OA writing/reading
8. Exercise/outside
9. Meeting/outreach
Checking off the boxes makes me feel productive. If I do nothing else that day, at least I know I did these things and that makes me feel good. I decided to include a spot for breakfast, because why not? It's something important I need to do and gives me one more box to check off!
Some days I don't feel like doing all of them and as you can see, some days I don't. That's when I try to give myself grace. When my perfectionist self starts to feel anxious at the sight of those unchecked boxes, I remind myself that I don't have to do this perfectly - just like I don't have to do program perfectly.
